Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response covers all three charts, but the reporting of data is inconsistent and lacks precision. While you identify the largest and smallest groups in the pie chart, the description of the table and bar graph is fragmented. For example, you mention 'the number of largest loans is in 2016' for the table, but the table actually lists book categories, not years. This confusion between the data sources indicates a failure to accurately interpret the provided information. Furthermore, the overview is weak; it merely states that the charts show changes without highlighting the most significant trends or comparisons, which is essential for a Band 6 or higher.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical flow is hindered by awkward phrasing and a lack of cohesive devices. Transitions between sentences are often missing or mechanical, such as 'In the pie chart' and 'In bar graph'. The referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the comparison of data. While there is an attempt to group information, the lack of clear signposting and the repetitive sentence structure make the progression of ideas feel disjointed. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words to connect your observations more smoothly.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, relying on basic terms like 'largest', 'smallest', and 'number'. There are several instances of inaccurate word choice, such as 'table chart' (which is redundant) and 'old adults' (which is not standard terminology). Additionally, there are minor spelling errors like 'chalfton' instead of 'Chalfont' and 'children'dvds'. The range of vocabulary is sufficient to convey basic meaning, but it lacks the precision and variety required for higher bands. You should aim to incorporate more specific analytical language to describe trends, such as 'fluctuated', 'peaked', or 'remained stable'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex sentences, but grammatical errors are frequent and occasionally impede clarity. Issues include missing articles ('in table chart'), incorrect verb forms ('children'dvds has only 1%'), and awkward sentence construction ('the total number of loans in 2007 to 2010 is slightly also in 2013'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after periods. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar prevents the response from reaching a higher band. Focus on subject-verb agreement and consistent use of articles.
