Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response attempts to cover the three charts provided, but the information is presented in a fragmented and often inaccurate manner. While you identify the main features, the data interpretation is inconsistent. For example, you state that 'adults has the most lowest percentage' for age, which contradicts the pie chart data. Furthermore, the description of the book categories is confusing, and the comparison between the bar chart trends and the other data is underdeveloped. To improve, ensure you clearly separate the data for each chart and verify the accuracy of the figures you are reporting to provide a more precise summary of the information.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The response lacks a clear structure. It is written as a single block of text without logical paragraphing, which makes it difficult to follow. There is a lack of cohesive devices to link ideas; sentences are often strung together with 'and' or lack punctuation entirely. The progression of ideas is disjointed, moving abruptly between the pie chart and the table without clear transitions. To improve, use paragraph breaks to separate the introduction, the overview, and the detailed body paragraphs. Incorporate linking words such as 'furthermore', 'in contrast', or 'consequently' to guide the reader through your analysis.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. You rely on basic terms like 'figures', 'shows', and 'got'. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'most lowest percentage' (which is grammatically incorrect and redundant) and 'lable'd'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to describe trends or data points with precision. To improve, focus on learning specific collocations for describing data, such as 'a significant proportion', 'a steady increase', or 'a downward trend'. Avoid informal phrasing and ensure you use correct terminology for the data categories provided in the charts.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are significant issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'adults has', 'childres fiction books... has maintain'), missing articles, and run-on sentences. Punctuation is almost entirely absent, which makes the text difficult to parse. The sentence structures are mostly simple and often contain errors when you attempt to link ideas. To improve, focus on basic sentence construction, ensuring that each sentence has a clear subject and verb. Practice using full stops to separate distinct ideas rather than relying on conjunctions to connect unrelated clauses.
