Student answer (Band 6.0)
The given charts provide information about the proportion of the library members of a public library in a town called Little Chalfont based on their age . The data also illustrates the total number of loans taken from 2007 to 2016 and provide a detailed insight into the proportion of loans taken in 2016 by their category.
Overall, adults between the ages of 18 and 64 are the majority of members at the library. The highest number of loans were taken in 2016 and a large part of them was attributed towards children's fiction and adult fiction.

In addition to this, number of loans taken in 2007 was a little over 15,000. Moreover, the count of loans increased in 2008 and plateaued till 2009. Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have successfully identified the main features of all three charts. You provided a clear overview and supported your points with relevant data from the pie chart, line graph, and bar chart. The comparison between categories in 2016 is well-handled, particularly the observation regarding the proportions of fiction versus non-fiction. To reach a higher band, ensure that you consistently link the data points to the specific years or categories more precisely. For instance, when discussing the loan trends, you could have more explicitly contrasted the growth period with the final 2016 figures to provide a more analytical summary of the trends.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The response is logically organized, with a clear introduction, overview, and body paragraphs that group information by chart type. You use a range of cohesive devices such as 'In addition to this', 'Moreover', and 'Moving further' to guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical. The progression of ideas is generally smooth, though the transition between the line graph data and the 2016 bar chart data could be more seamless. Overall, the paragraphing is effective and contributes to the clarity of the report.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey information with precision, using terms like 'proportion', 'attributed', 'plateaued', and 'conferred'. There is an attempt to use less common items, which is positive. However, there are minor issues with word choice, such as 'recieved' (spelling error) and 'conferred', which is slightly unnatural in this context. Despite these minor slips, the vocabulary is adequate for the task and allows for clear communication of the data trends.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures effectively. Most of your sentences are clear, and the grammatical control is generally good. There are a few minor errors, such as 'the proportion for loans taken for both books... was 2%, it was three times for children's non-fiction', which is slightly awkward in structure. Additionally, ensure subject-verb agreement is consistent. Overall, the errors are infrequent and do not impede the reader's understanding of the information presented.
