IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The charts below give information about a public library in a town called Little Chalfont.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

 

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The charts provide data about a public library: age of members, total loans based on different categories, and the total number of the loans (from 2007 to 2016).

Overall, adults ranging from 18 to 64 was the dominant age group. Fiction books had the highest proportion of loans weather its children's or adults's, while children's DVDs had the lowest share. The total number of loans experienced an overall upward trend.

Adults aged 18-64 accounted for more than half (51%) of the total library members, whereas the minority age group was adults 65 and over.

Turning to total loans on various categories; while the lowest loan was on children's DVDs with 1%, children and adult fiction both had the largest loan rates at 38%.

Talking about total number of loans from 2007 to 2016, the figures witnessed an increasing trend, from around 16,000 in 2007 to nearly 22,000 in 2016.
