Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have successfully identified the main features of all three charts and provided relevant comparisons. The overview is clear, and you have selected key data points to support your descriptions. However, the response could be improved by ensuring the data is presented more accurately. For instance, in the second paragraph, you state 'Children's fiction and adult's fiction both categories took loan highest', which is slightly confusing given the table data. Additionally, ensure that your overview is more comprehensive; while you mention teenagers, you could better synthesize the trends across the three charts. Overall, you have covered the requirements of the task well, providing a clear summary of the information provided.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The response is logically organized, with each paragraph focusing on a specific chart. You use a clear structure, moving from an introduction to an overview, followed by detailed body paragraphs. Cohesive devices such as 'In pie chart', 'In the table', and 'Although' are used to guide the reader. However, some transitions are a bit mechanical, and there are minor issues with referencing, such as the missing articles before 'pie chart' and 'table'. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would help elevate the flow of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'accounting for', 'represented', and 'peaked'. However, there are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice errors, such as 'how much amount of loan taken' and 'remain categories'. These errors do not impede communication but indicate a need for more precise collocation. To reach a higher band, focus on using more sophisticated vocabulary and ensuring that your word choices are grammatically appropriate for the context of describing statistical data.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this task. There are several grammatical errors, particularly regarding articles ('the library highest used', 'in pie chart') and pluralization ('remain categories'). Some sentences are slightly clunky, such as 'reaching at highest level'. While these errors are noticeable, they rarely impede the reader's understanding of the data. To improve, focus on consistent article usage and refining your sentence construction to ensure better grammatical accuracy throughout your report.
