Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response covers all three charts provided, identifying key features and making relevant comparisons. You successfully highlighted the age distribution, the popularity of loan categories, and the trend in total loans over time. However, the analysis is somewhat superficial. For example, in the final paragraph, the description of the trend is confusing and contains inaccuracies regarding the figures (e.g., 'decreased by 21000 to 19000'). To reach a higher band, ensure that data points are cited more accurately and that the overview clearly synthesizes the main trends rather than just listing facts. The summary of the loan trend lacks clarity in its chronological progression.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the information. You use some cohesive devices like 'Furthermore', 'In terms of', and 'while', which provide a basic structure. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and there are instances where referencing is unclear. For example, the transition in the final paragraph regarding the loan trends is disjointed, making it difficult to follow the timeline of the data. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would enhance the overall coherence of the report.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'proportion', 'category', and 'augmented'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'most highest percentage' (a double superlative) and 'total number of loans increased remain the period'. These errors occasionally hinder the precision of your report. To improve, focus on using more natural collocations and avoiding redundant phrasing. Expanding your range to include more precise academic vocabulary related to data description would also be beneficial.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'The charts illustrates'), missing articles (e.g., 'age of library member'), and incorrect verb forms (e.g., 'was increased'). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to distract the reader. You should focus on proofreading for basic errors such as pluralization and verb tense consistency, as well as ensuring that complex sentences are constructed accurately to avoid confusion.
