IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The charts below give information about a public library in a town called Little Chalfont.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

 

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The charts illustrate the information of Little Chalfont's public library over the given period of time.

In an overview, most of the library users in the year 2016 were adults from the age of 18 to 64 whereas adults over 65 and above had the least members.

Looking at the proportion of total loans accross seven different categories, children's fiction accounted for 38% being the most popular and similar case was seen with adult fiction. In terms of adult non-fiction and children's non-fiction borrowed, the percentage was around 13% and 6% respectively which were the second and third most popluar after children's and adult's fiction. On the other hand, children's DVDs, young adults and adult audio books accounted for the least of 1%, 2% and 2% accordingly.

As far as the total numbers of loans taken from the year 2007 to 2016 was concerned, just above 15000 users took loans in the starting year and this figure gradually increased over the period with a slight decline in 2014 with just below 20,000 members before finishing off at around 23,000 loans in 2016.

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this task. Most of your sentences are clear and easy to follow.
