Student answer (Band 6.0)
The pie chart illustrates the ages of library members in 2016, while the table presents the different categories of loans in the same year. In addition, the bar chart shows the number of loans taken between 2007 and 2016.

In the pie chart, the library members were mostly adults who aged between 18 and 64, accounting for 51%. This was followed by children's, at 22%. However, both young and old adults had the smallest percentage, which were 12% and 15%, respectively.
Looking at the table, the majority of loans were taken by two categories; children's fiction and adults fiction, at 38%. This was followed by adults non-fiction which stood at 13%, whereas children's DVDs, young adults and adult audio books remained the lowest with 2%,1% and 2% each.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response covers all three charts effectively. You have identified the main features, such as the dominance of adult members and the peak in loan numbers in 2016. The comparisons are generally clear, particularly in the table section where you contrast the popular categories with the least popular ones. However, the description of the bar chart is slightly underdeveloped; while you mention the fluctuation, you could have provided more specific data points for the intermediate years or a more precise comparison between the start and end of the period to fully satisfy the 'key features' requirement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, an overview, and body paragraphs dedicated to each chart. The use of cohesive devices such as 'In addition', 'Overall', 'By contrast', and 'Looking at the table' helps guide the reader through the data. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different data sources. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical, and the referencing in the final paragraph is a bit repetitive. Overall, the progression of ideas is clear and easy to follow throughout the response.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey information accurately, using terms like 'proportion', 'fluctuation', and 'categories'. There are some minor inaccuracies, such as 'adults who aged between' (should be 'aged between') and 'children's' used as a noun category. While you attempt to use varied vocabulary, the range is somewhat limited and lacks the more sophisticated collocations or precise terminology that would push the score into the higher bands. The vocabulary is functional and appropriate for the task but lacks a degree of flexibility.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'adults who aged between' (should be 'aged between'), 'the number of loan' (should be 'loans'), and 'nine-years period' (should be 'nine-year period'). Additionally, the sentence 'while recorded the highest figures' is grammatically incomplete. Despite these errors, the meaning is always clear, and the punctuation is generally handled well. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of plural nouns after quantifiers.
