Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response covers all parts of the task by summarizing the pie chart, table, and line graph. You successfully identified the main features, such as the dominant age group and the trends in loan numbers. However, the analysis of the table is slightly confusing; you mention 'children fiction and adult fiction' as 38% each, but the data provided in the prompt is not fully integrated or clearly compared. To reach a higher band, ensure that all data points are accurately transcribed and that comparisons between categories are more explicit. The overview is present but could be more comprehensive by highlighting the most significant trends across all three visual elements.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The response is organized into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, body paragraphs for each data set, and a concluding overview. Cohesive devices such as 'Regarding to', 'Turning to', and 'Meanwhile' are used to signal shifts in focus. However, some transitions feel mechanical, and there are minor issues with referencing, such as the sentence 'which was the most popular category' which is a fragment. Improving the flow between sentences and ensuring that pronouns clearly refer back to the intended nouns would enhance the overall coherence of the report.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'proportion', 'depicts', and 'considerable decline'. However, there are several inaccuracies in word choice and spelling, such as 'adult frication' (likely meant 'fiction') and 'incline' (where 'increase' or 'rise' would be more natural). Additionally, 'Regarding to' is an incorrect collocation; 'Regarding the' or 'With regard to' would be standard. While these errors do not impede communication, they limit the score as they show a lack of precision in academic register.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, including missing articles ('used library' instead of 'used the library'), incorrect preposition usage ('in 2007 to 2016'), and subject-verb agreement issues ('Total number of loans were increased'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma placement and sentence fragments. While you attempt complex structures, the frequency of these errors prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. Focusing on basic grammatical accuracy and proofreading for missing articles would significantly improve your score.
