The charts below give information about a public library in a town called Little Chalfont.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

 

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The charts show information about library members and library loans in 2016. The bar chart shows the number of loans from 2007 to 2016.

Overall, adults aged 18–64 were the biggest group of library members. Fiction books were the most popular loans. Also, the total number of loans increased.

In 2016, adults aged 18–64 were 51% of all members. Children were 22%, young adults were 15%, and people aged 65 and over were 12%.

Children’s fiction and adult fiction were both 38% of loans. Adult non-fiction was 13%, while children’s non-fiction was 6%. Young adults and adult audio books were both 2%. Children’s DVDs were only 1%.

The number of loans was about 16,000 in 2007. It went up to about 21,000 in 2011. Then it went down in 2013. Finally, it increased again to about 21,500 in 2016. Overall, library use became much more popular during these ten years.
