Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response covers the main features of the charts, including the age groups, loan categories, and the trend over time. However, the analysis is largely descriptive and lacks meaningful comparison or synthesis. For instance, the report lists percentages and loan figures sequentially without highlighting the most significant trends, such as the dominance of fiction loans or the overall upward trajectory of library usage. The overview is missing, which is a critical requirement for Task 1. To improve, you should group related data points and provide a clear summary of the main trends rather than listing individual figures.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The response is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is very mechanical and repetitive. Phrases like 'In this paragraph, we talk about' and 'Now we talk about' are inappropriate for an academic report; they draw attention to the writing process rather than the data. The progression of ideas is somewhat disjointed, as the transition between the age groups, categories, and the timeline is abrupt. Using more sophisticated linking words such as 'consequently', 'in contrast', or 'furthermore' would improve the flow and logical progression of your report.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, relying heavily on basic verbs like 'goes to', 'was', and 'held'. There is little attempt to use academic or topic-specific vocabulary to describe trends. For example, instead of saying 'loan goes to higher', you should use terms like 'increased', 'peaked', or 'showed an upward trend'. The phrasing 'city town called as a Little Chalfont' is unnatural and reflects a lack of control over collocation. To reach a higher band, you need to incorporate a wider range of vocabulary, including synonyms and precise terminology for describing data trends.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. There are issues with article usage ('a Little Chalfont'), subject-verb agreement ('It provide us'), and sentence structure. Many sentences are simple and repetitive in their construction. For example, 'In 2007, loan was almost 15000' lacks the necessary articles and pluralization. While the meaning is generally understandable, the lack of complex sentence structures and the persistence of basic errors limit the score. Focusing on correct tense usage and sentence variety will help improve your accuracy and range.
