Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the ability to fully develop the response. While the main features are identified, the analysis is superficial. The report lacks sufficient detail regarding the specific data points in the table and bar graph. For instance, the comparison of loan types is mentioned but not fully supported by the provided figures. Because the response is under-length and lacks the necessary depth to cover all parts of the task comprehensively, it falls into the lower band range.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and occasionally inaccurate, such as 'continue with older adults' and 'and and youngers'. The progression of ideas is logical, but the lack of sufficient content makes the overall flow feel disjointed. To improve, you should use a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that connects back to the overall summary.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The range of vocabulary is limited and repetitive. You rely on basic terms like 'utilized', 'accounted for', and 'peaked'. There are also errors in word choice and form, such as 'youngers' (should be 'younger people' or 'adolescents') and 'constituent for' (should be 'constituted' or 'accounted for'). To reach a higher band, you need to incorporate more precise vocabulary related to data description, such as 'fluctuated', 'remained stable', or 'accounted for a significant proportion'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are several grammatical errors that hinder the clarity of the writing. Subject-verb agreement is inconsistent, such as 'The pie chart, table and bar graph illustrates' (should be 'illustrate'). There are also issues with article usage and prepositions, such as 'the older people used least' and 'the total counted loans were peaked'. The sentence structures are mostly simple, and the attempt at complex sentences is marred by errors. Focusing on basic grammatical accuracy and sentence structure is essential for improvement.
