Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers all three visual elements (pie chart, table, and bar graph) and identifies key features such as the dominance of adult library members and the peak in loan figures by 2016. However, the analysis is slightly hampered by inaccuracies in data reporting. For instance, you state that children's and adult fiction loans are 'the same' at 38%, but the data shows they are distinct categories. Additionally, the description of the loan trends is somewhat confusing, as you mention 'fluctuations' but the bar graph shows a clear upward trend. To reach a higher band, ensure that data points are cited with greater precision and that comparisons are logically grounded in the provided figures.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To begin with', 'On the other hand', and 'in contrast', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'continue with older adults', which lacks a proper grammatical link to the previous clause. Referencing is generally clear, but the flow between sentences in the second body paragraph is somewhat disjointed due to the list-like presentation of data points. Improving the variety of linking phrases would enhance the overall cohesion.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'constituting', 'fluctuations', and 'proportion'. However, there are some word choice errors and awkward phrasings, such as 'the total counted loans were peaked' (should be 'peaked') and 'the least at 1% individuals taken loans' (should be 'the lowest percentage of loans'). These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the precision of your report. To improve, focus on using more natural collocations and ensuring that verbs are used in the correct voice and tense.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ('children's fiction and adult fiction have the same loans') and awkward phrasing ('almost half of it utilized by children'). Punctuation is generally acceptable, but there are instances of redundant conjunctions, such as 'and and youngers'. The frequent minor errors in tense and sentence construction prevent the response from reaching a higher band. Focusing on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy would significantly improve the quality of your writing.
