Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers all three charts provided, identifying key features such as the age distribution of members, the trend in loans from 2007 to 2016, and the breakdown of loan categories in 2016. However, the analysis is somewhat superficial. For instance, while you mention the fluctuation in loans, you do not describe the overall upward trend clearly, nor do you make sufficient comparisons between the categories. The report is descriptive rather than analytical, and some data points are presented without enough context. To improve, ensure you group related information more logically and highlight significant trends or contrasts rather than simply listing figures.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The response is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and repetitive (e.g., 'the chart shows', 'according to the chart'). There are also issues with sentence boundaries; for example, the first paragraph is a single long sentence, and the second paragraph contains run-on sentences. The transition between the age distribution and the loan trends is abrupt. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would significantly enhance the flow and logical progression of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. You rely heavily on basic phrasing such as 'gives information about' and 'shows the data'. There are also some spelling errors ('childern', 'releated', 'comperatively') and minor collocation issues, such as 'in the fluctuation mode'. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more sophisticated vocabulary to describe trends (e.g., 'fluctuated', 'experienced a steady increase', 'accounted for') and ensure accurate spelling of key terms. The range of vocabulary is sufficient to convey the main points, but it does not demonstrate a wide or flexible range.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but accuracy is inconsistent. There are several grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ('the number of adult members... are', 'the highest number of loan was given') and punctuation errors, particularly the misuse of periods in the middle of sentences. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to distract the reader. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and ensure that your sentences are correctly punctuated, avoiding the tendency to string multiple clauses together with 'as' or 'and'.
