The charts below give information about a public library in a town called Little Chalfont.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

 

Student answer (Band 6.5)

The charts show information about members, book loans by category in 2016, and total loans between 2007 and 2016 at Little Chalfont Library.

Overall, adults aged 18 to 64 were the largest group of members. Fiction books for adults and children were the most popular categories. In addition, total loans increased overall over the ten-year period.

In 2016, adults aged 18–64 made up 51% of total members. Children were the second largest group with 22%. Young adults aged 13–17 was 15%, and adults aged 65 and over was 12%. For book loans in 2016, children’s fiction and adult fiction both had the highest percentage at 38%. Adult non-fiction was 13%, while other categories were very low, between 1% and 6%.

Looking at total loans from 2007 to 2016, the number started at around 15,000 in 2007. It increased to over 20,000 in 2010. After that, the numbers remained similar and reached around 21,500 in 2016.
