Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers all parts of the task by summarizing the three charts provided. You have successfully identified the main features, such as the dominance of adult members and the popularity of fiction books. However, the reporting of data is sometimes imprecise, such as saying 'above then half' instead of 'over half' or 'above 20000 thousands', which is mathematically confusing. While you have made comparisons, the analysis could be more sophisticated by grouping data more effectively rather than listing percentages. To improve, ensure that the data points are clearly linked to the specific categories and years to avoid ambiguity for the reader.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs. You use some cohesive devices like 'To begin' and 'while', but the flow is occasionally hindered by awkward phrasing and mechanical transitions. For instance, the transition between the membership data and the book loan data is abrupt. Additionally, the use of referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult to follow the progression of ideas. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear thematic focus would help to improve the overall coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

Your vocabulary is adequate for the task, but there are several instances of incorrect word choice and spelling errors that affect precision. For example, you use 'barrowed' instead of 'borrowed' and 'famous' when 'popular' would be more appropriate in this context. You also struggle with collocations, such as 'registration taken by adults' and 'numbers of loans were almost same'. To reach a higher band, you should focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and ensuring that your word forms are correct. Expanding your range of synonyms for 'increase', 'decrease', and 'popular' will also enhance your score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include incorrect preposition usage ('above then half'), subject-verb agreement errors ('most of the member'), and awkward phrasing ('in next two year'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of commas. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like pluralization and article usage will significantly improve your accuracy.
