Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers all parts of the task by summarizing the three charts provided. You successfully identified the main features, such as the age demographics and the loan categories. However, there are significant inaccuracies in data reporting. For instance, you state that 'Children's and adult non-fiction recorded the largest proportion, at 38% of total loan respectively,' which contradicts the visual data provided. Additionally, your description of the loan categories is confusing, as you mention 'respectively' for categories that do not align with the figures. To improve, ensure that your data points are transcribed precisely from the charts and that comparisons are logically structured to avoid contradictions.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use some cohesive devices like 'Overall,' 'In terms of,' and 'Meanwhile.' However, the flow is occasionally interrupted by mechanical phrasing and awkward transitions, such as 'While, Children`s DVDS recorded...' and 'Followed by, Children`s non-fiction...'. The use of punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with commas and capitalization (e.g., 'little chalfont'). To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider range of linking words more naturally and ensure that your paragraphing is supported by a logical progression of ideas rather than just listing data points.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'proportion,' 'fluctuated,' and 'demographics.' However, there are instances of repetitive phrasing and word-choice errors. For example, you use 'proportion' repeatedly when referring to raw numbers or percentages, which is imprecise. There are also errors in capitalization and minor spelling issues, such as 'little chalfont' and 'DVDS.' To improve, try to vary your vocabulary by using synonyms like 'percentage,' 'share,' or 'figure' and ensure proper noun capitalization.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation. For example, 'The bar charts illustrate the information about a public library in a town known as little chalfont' lacks proper capitalization. There are also issues with subject-verb agreement and preposition usage, such as 'recorded smallest group' (missing 'the') and 'between 2007 to 2016' (should be 'between 2007 and 2016' or 'from 2007 to 2016'). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur frequently enough to limit the score. Focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy.
