Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the ability to fully develop the response. While the main features of the library membership and loan categories are identified, the analysis is superficial. The description of the loan trends over time is underdeveloped, and the response ends abruptly with an incomplete sentence. To improve, you must ensure you provide a comprehensive overview, select and report key data points with comparisons, and ensure the response reaches the required length to allow for full task coverage.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The response is organized into short paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is hindered by the incomplete nature of the text. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Overall' and 'Meanwhile', but they are somewhat mechanical. The final sentence is a fragment, which disrupts the flow of the text. To improve, ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence and that ideas are linked logically throughout the response. Avoid ending the essay with incomplete thoughts or labels, as this negatively affects the overall coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision required for higher bands. There are several spelling errors, such as 'catagories' instead of 'categories' and 'flactuation' instead of 'fluctuation'. Additionally, the phrase 'most least' is grammatically incorrect and awkward. The range of vocabulary is limited, relying on basic descriptors. To improve, focus on using more precise terminology for describing data, such as 'accounted for', 'represented', or 'experienced a peak', and ensure you proofread your work to eliminate basic spelling mistakes.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. For example, 'the library members... was majority' should be 'the majority of library members were', and 'the pie chars shows' contains a subject-verb agreement error. There are also issues with punctuation and sentence structure, such as the double comma in 'years,,'. The use of 'in which we can saw' is grammatically incorrect. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and consistent tense usage when describing historical data. Practice constructing error-free complex sentences to demonstrate better control.
