Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the task achievement. Because the response is only 80 words, it is severely underdeveloped. It fails to report on the main features of the charts, such as the trends in the bar chart or the specific categories in the table. The information provided is very limited and does not offer a comprehensive summary or meaningful comparisons. To improve, you must ensure you cover all three charts provided in the prompt and provide a more detailed analysis of the data trends.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.5

The response lacks a logical structure. While there is an attempt at an introduction and an overview, the paragraphing is non-existent or poorly executed. The use of cohesive devices is very limited, and the transition between the different charts is mechanical and repetitive (e.g., 'The table chart show...', 'And the last bar chart show...'). The ideas are not sequenced in a way that guides the reader through the data effectively. To improve, use linking words like 'furthermore', 'in contrast', or 'consequently' to connect your sentences and ensure each paragraph has a clear focus.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.5

The vocabulary is basic and repetitive. There are several errors in word choice and phrasing, such as 'in town it call little Chalfont' and 'table chart'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to demonstrate the ability to describe data trends or categories accurately. You rely on simple, repetitive structures to describe the charts. To improve, try to incorporate more precise vocabulary related to data description, such as 'proportion', 'fluctuation', 'category', and 'distribution', and ensure you use correct terminology for the visual aids provided.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues (e.g., 'the given charts shows', 'the pie chart show') and punctuation errors. The sentence structures are very simple and lack variety. There are no attempts at complex sentences, which limits the score. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and sentence construction. Once you are comfortable with simple sentences, practice combining ideas using relative clauses or subordinating conjunctions to create more complex and accurate grammatical structures.
