Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response covers the main features of the charts, but the analysis is often inaccurate or confusing. For example, the student states that 51% of visitors are adults, but then confuses the data by stating '51% and 22% includes adults and children respectively' in the body paragraph. The description of the loan data is also problematic; the student mentions '22K' for 2016, but the data provided in the prompt is not clearly interpreted. The summary lacks a clear overview of the trends, and the reporting of figures is inconsistent, making it difficult for the reader to grasp the key information presented in the charts.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. While cohesive devices like 'Meanwhile', 'To begen with', and 'On the other hand' are used, they are often placed awkwardly or do not accurately reflect the relationship between the ideas. The referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the second paragraph where the connection between the age groups and the loan data is muddled. The overall structure is mechanical, and the lack of clarity in the data presentation hinders the flow of information.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The range of vocabulary is limited and contains several errors in word choice and collocation. Examples include 'accents for children' (likely meaning 'accounts for'), 'children's fixture' (likely meaning 'fiction'), and 'maximum surge of loan had showed'. These errors occasionally impede communication, as the reader must guess the intended meaning. The student relies on basic vocabulary and struggles to use precise terminology to describe the data trends, such as 'larger number of population' instead of 'the majority of visitors'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that affect readability. There are issues with subject-verb agreement ('the table and bar graphs depicts'), tense usage ('the maximum surge of loan had showed'), and sentence structure ('the larger number of population who visit library is 51% and 22% includes adults and children respectively'). While there is an attempt to use complex sentences, they are often faulty. Punctuation is generally functional, but the high frequency of errors in basic grammar limits the score.
