Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers all parts of the task, including the membership demographics, loan categories, and the trend over time. You have successfully identified the main features and made relevant comparisons, such as noting that children's and adult fiction were equally popular. However, there are some inaccuracies in the data reporting; for instance, you stated 'adults 18-17' instead of 18-64, and 'adults aged 65% and over' instead of 65 and over. These minor data transcription errors slightly affect the precision of your summary. To reach a higher band, ensure that all figures and categories are transcribed exactly as they appear in the source material.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The response is logically organized into an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs. You use some cohesive devices such as 'In terms of', 'Regarding', and 'In addition' to link your ideas. However, the flow is occasionally hindered by mechanical errors in punctuation and spacing, such as 'represented22%,followed' and '13-17 at 15%.adults'. Improving the use of spacing and punctuation after full stops would make the progression of ideas much smoother. The paragraphing is appropriate for a report of this nature, and the overall structure is clear.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'accounted for', 'represented', and 'contributed'. There are some errors in word choice and form, such as 'Little Chalfont called library' (which should be 'a library in Little Chalfont') and 'smallest grouped' (should be 'smallest group'). While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more careful proofreading. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and ensuring that nouns and adjectives are used in their correct forms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation. Examples include 'The following chart illustrate' (subject-verb agreement), 'the adults of age 18-64 made up to large group' (article usage), and missing spaces after periods. While the meaning remains clear, these errors are noticeable throughout the text. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and consistent punctuation. Practicing the use of complex sentences with correct relative clauses or subordinating conjunctions will also help you demonstrate better control over your grammatical range.
