Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have successfully identified the main features of the charts and provided relevant comparisons. You covered the demographic breakdown, the loan trends over time, and the genre distribution. However, there are some inaccuracies in data reporting. For instance, you state that members aged 18-64 were 51%, but the chart shows 51% for 18-64, yet you later list other categories that do not align with the total. Additionally, your summary of the loan numbers (around 29,000 annually) is not supported by the bar graph, which shows figures ranging from 15,000 to 23,000. Ensure you double-check the data points to avoid misrepresenting the information provided.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The response is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each focusing on a specific chart. You use transition signals such as 'Overall', 'Looking first at', and 'Moving to' to guide the reader through the report. However, the cohesion is occasionally mechanical, and some sentences are disjointed, such as the list of percentages in the third paragraph. Referencing is sometimes unclear, particularly when listing the age groups. Improving the flow between sentences by using more varied cohesive devices would enhance the readability and logical progression of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'demographic', 'fluctuated', and 'proportion'. However, there are several word-choice errors and awkward phrasings, such as 'demographic illustration' instead of 'demographic data' and 'borrow either children fiction' instead of 'borrowing children's fiction'. There are also minor spelling errors like 'chlfond' and 'untill'. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise collocations and ensure that your terminology accurately reflects the data presented in the charts.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include missing articles ('one pie chart', 'the majority of the loans for children'), subject-verb agreement issues ('member whose age ranged'), and awkward sentence construction ('this place had been significant increase'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the placement of percentages and commas. While your meaning is generally clear, you need to focus on basic grammatical accuracy and sentence structure to reduce the frequency of these errors.
