Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response covers all three charts provided, identifying key features and making relevant comparisons. However, the analysis is somewhat superficial. For instance, the description of the age groups uses informal and imprecise idioms like 'lions share' and 'rats share', which are not appropriate for an academic report. While the main trends are identified, the data interpretation lacks precision; for example, stating 'children almost covered the one fifth population' is vague. To reach a higher band, you should focus on reporting specific data points more accurately and avoiding informal language, ensuring that the comparison between categories is more analytical rather than just listing figures.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, each focusing on a different chart. There is a clear progression of ideas from the introduction to the body paragraphs. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'At last' and 'Moving towards'. Additionally, some transitions between sentences feel forced. While the paragraphing is appropriate and the overall structure is clear, the range of cohesive devices could be more varied and natural to improve the flow of the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but there are significant issues with word choice and collocation. The use of informal idioms like 'lions share' and 'rats share' is inappropriate for an academic task. Furthermore, there are errors in phrasing, such as 'delineates the information of member's' (should be 'members') and 'rock bottom position'. While you attempt to use a range of vocabulary, the lack of precision and the inclusion of non-academic expressions limit the score. Focusing on accurate terminology for data description, such as 'accounted for' or 'represented', would be beneficial.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ('charts below delineates'), incorrect pluralization ('member's'), and awkward phrasing ('the amount of number of loans'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of ampersands and unnecessary commas. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur frequently enough to impact the overall clarity of the writing. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and ensuring that complex sentences are constructed accurately.
