Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the ability to fully address the task. While the introduction attempts to outline the charts, the body paragraphs are severely underdeveloped. The analysis of the data is superficial; for instance, the description of the bar graph as having 'less difference' is vague and lacks supporting data points. Furthermore, the response fails to provide a comprehensive summary or make meaningful comparisons between the different data sets provided. To improve, you must ensure all parts of the prompt are addressed with sufficient detail and data-driven evidence.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The response is organized into an introduction, an overview, and a brief body paragraph. However, the progression of ideas is disjointed. The use of cohesive devices is minimal and often repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'In [chart name]'. The lack of sufficient content makes it difficult to establish a logical flow between the different charts. To improve, use a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear focus, moving from the general overview to specific, well-supported details.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is basic and repetitive, relying heavily on the words provided in the prompt. There are several errors in word choice and form, such as 'is acquire by' instead of 'is acquired by' and 'there are less difference' instead of 'there is little difference'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to demonstrate the flexibility required for higher bands. To improve, focus on using more precise terminology for describing trends, such as 'fluctuated', 'remained stable', or 'accounted for', and ensure correct word forms are used.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('The pie charts illustrates') and incorrect preposition usage ('by there age' instead of 'by their age'). The sentence structures are predominantly simple, with little attempt at complex grammatical forms. Punctuation is also inconsistent. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and sentence construction. Incorporating a wider range of complex structures, such as relative clauses or passive voice, will also help demonstrate better grammatical control.
