Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response generally addresses the task, providing relevant information about the library's members and their loans. However, it lacks a clear structure, and some of the comparisons between the data are vague. For instance, it states that 'three-fifth librarian was adults' but does not elaborate on this comparison. More detailed analysis of the trends and clearer connections between the different data presentations would enhance the task achievement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The coherence and cohesion of the response could be improved. While the information is presented in a logical order, the use of linking words is limited. Phrases like 'First of all,' and 'By contrast' are present, but the response could benefit from additional cohesive devices to ensure smooth transitions between points. Moreover, the organization of ideas could be clearer, helping the reader to follow the analysis more easily.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The lexical resource shows some variety but can be improved further. Words like 'provide' and 'illustrates' are appropriate, but alternatives could enhance clarity and precision. Phrases such as 'highest on loans with same percentage' could be expressed more effectively. The vocabulary used does not consistently reflect academic tone, impacting overall quality.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
Grammatical range and accuracy present some issues. There are several grammatical errors such as "the pie chart provide" (should be "provides") and "it followed a fluctuation trend" (should be "it follows"). Sentence structures are relatively simple, and there are few complex sentences. More complex constructions and careful proofreading could improve accuracy and enhance the overall impression.
Overall feedback
Your response provides a basic overview of the data, which is a good start. However, aim to create a clearer structure with definite paragraphs that separate different points of analysis. Pay closer attention to the details you provide and ensure you make distinct comparisons when relevant. In addition, enhance your vocabulary usage by incorporating more formal language suitable for academic writing. Finally, review your grammar for greater accuracy; this will help you express your ideas more clearly. Practicing these aspects will likely raise your score significantly.
