Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response attempts to cover the provided charts, but the information is often inaccurate or poorly presented. For instance, the data regarding library members and loan categories is confusingly described, such as 'children's known affection' (likely a misreading of 'non-fiction') and the unclear percentages. While the main features are identified, the lack of clarity in reporting the data prevents a full overview. The comparison between the age groups and loan categories is disjointed, and the summary of the bar chart lacks precision. To improve, ensure that data points are clearly linked to their respective categories and that the summary accurately reflects the provided figures without misinterpretation.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The response is organised into paragraphs, but the logical flow is weak. The use of cohesive devices is limited and often mechanical or misused, such as the abrupt transition in the second paragraph: 'Overall the age groups of adults are high members and also Children's ,adult fiction as High propagation.' The referencing is frequently unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the relationship between the different data sets. Paragraphing is present, but the internal structure of the paragraphs lacks coherence, as sentences are often disconnected and grammatically fragmented.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The range of vocabulary is limited and often inappropriate for an academic report. There are several instances of word-choice errors that impede clarity, such as 'High propagation' to describe popularity, and 'known affection' instead of 'non-fiction'. The phrasing is often awkward, such as 'people do' or 'very less it'. The student relies on basic vocabulary and struggles to use precise terminology to describe trends or data categories. To reach a higher band, the student should focus on learning specific collocations related to data description, such as 'accounted for', 'represented', or 'a significant proportion'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that often hinder communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement ('The pie chart and table compares'), article usage, and sentence structure. Many sentences are fragmented or run-on, such as 'People take loans in libraries has starting year 2007 are 5000 and passes to 2016 has people take loans in libraries to 20000.' Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after commas and incorrect capitalization. While the student attempts some complex structures, they are generally inaccurate. A focus on basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement is essential.
