Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have successfully addressed all parts of the prompt by summarizing the three charts provided. You identified the main features, such as the demographic breakdown of members, the popularity of different loan categories, and the overall upward trend in library usage over the decade. The data is accurately reported, and you made relevant comparisons, such as contrasting the high popularity of fiction with the low demand for DVDs. To reach a higher band, ensure that your overview paragraph provides a more comprehensive summary of the trends rather than just listing specific data points, as this would better highlight the 'main features' as requested by the task.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5
The response is logically organized with a clear progression of ideas. You have used paragraphing effectively to separate the different charts, which helps the reader follow your analysis. Cohesive devices such as 'Firstly,' 'In contrast,' and 'Finally' are used appropriately to link your points. The referencing is generally clear, though the transition between the second and third paragraphs could be slightly smoother to better integrate the remaining data categories with the overall trend analysis. Overall, the structure is coherent and easy to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You have used a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey information with precision. Terms such as 'constituted,' 'segment,' 'upward trajectory,' and 'comprised' demonstrate a good level of lexical control. There is an awareness of style appropriate for an academic report. While the vocabulary is accurate and functional, incorporating a few more sophisticated collocations or varied synonyms for 'loans' and 'categories' would further enhance the lexical range and help you reach the higher band descriptors.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 7.5
Your writing displays a good variety of complex structures, such as the use of participial phrases ('rising from approximately...') and subordinate clauses. The grammar is generally accurate, and your sentences are well-constructed. There are very few errors, and those that exist do not impede communication. To improve, ensure that your punctuation remains consistent, particularly when using commas in complex lists or introductory phrases. The control over tense and subject-verb agreement is strong throughout the response.
