The charts below give information about a public library in a town called Little Chalfont.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

 

Student answer (Band 6.5)

The given chart below illustrates the information about the public library in a small city mentioned Little Chalfont.

Overall, working-age adults comprised the majority of library members in 2016, while borrowing patterns were heavily dominated by fictional names for both children and adults. Additionally, total library loans experienced a steady upward trend over the ten year period.

In graph given, In 2016, adults aged 18–64 made up 51% of all library members, followed by children at 22%. Older adults of years 65 and over were accounted for 15%. Whereas young adults 13 to 17 represented the smallest demographic at 12%. Regarding borrowing habits in 2016, Children’s fiction and Adult fiction were the most popular categories, tying for the largest share at 38% each.

Looking at total loans from 2007 to 2016, figure stood at approximately 15,000 in 2007 before rising sharply to around 20,000 by 2010. Despite minor fluctuations between 2011 and 2013, borrowing continuously increased, peaking at just over 21,000 in 2016.
