Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

You have successfully identified the main features of the three charts provided. You covered the membership demographics, the breakdown of book loans, and the trend in total loans over time. However, the analysis could be improved by making more direct comparisons between categories. For instance, noting that fiction books (adult and children combined) accounted for over 75% of total loans would provide a stronger analytical overview. Additionally, the description of the bar graph trends is slightly repetitive; grouping the years with similar performance would be more efficient than listing them individually. Overall, you have addressed all parts of the task effectively.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The response is logically organized into three distinct paragraphs, each focusing on a specific chart. You use transition signals such as 'Overall', 'Meanwhile', and 'Furthermore' to guide the reader through the information. However, some cohesive devices are used in a slightly mechanical way, and the flow between sentences within paragraphs could be smoother. For example, the transition between the membership data and the book loan data is abrupt. Improving the use of referencing (e.g., 'this figure', 'the latter') would help to connect ideas more fluidly and elevate the coherence of the response.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey the information clearly, using terms like 'proportion', 'accounted for', and 'variations'. There are some minor inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'making the highest proportion' (which should be 'representing the highest proportion') and 'loan obtained' (which should be 'loans were recorded'). While you attempt to use some less common vocabulary, the phrasing is occasionally slightly unnatural. Expanding your repertoire of reporting verbs and noun phrases related to data trends would help you achieve a higher score in this criterion.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'almost 51% adults... are members' (missing 'of'), 'senior citizens which are' (should be 'who are'), and '16 thousand approximately loan was taken' (incorrect word order and pluralization). While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct placement of adverbs. Ensure that you proofread for small errors like missing articles or incorrect plural forms, which occur throughout the text.
