IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The charts below give information about a public library in a town called Little Chalfont.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

 

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The three charts show information concerning a public library located in a town which is named Little Chalfont. Information is divided between a pie chart which indicates the age of the members using the library during 2016. The table illustrates who loaned the most books based on their categories also in 2016 and finally, the bar chart indicates the total of loans between 2007 to 2016.

Overall, the majority of members were adults while the other age groups were split almost evenly between children, young adults and adults 65 and over. The two significant type of books that were loaned were children's fiction and adult fiction, accounting for the majority of loans. Adult non-fiction made up for a smaller part of loans and the other type of books are barely loaned. The number of loans stayed mostly the same.

The adults ranging between 16 to 64 years old made up 51% of the users while the children, young adults between 13 to 17 and adults 65 and over made up the other half at 49%, respectively 12%, 22%, 15%. Even the the adults are the majority, it is tied with the children's fiction category at 38%. Fiction books are most of the loans compared to non fiction. Adult non fiction made up of 13%.

The number of loaned books remained mostly the same between 2007 to 2017, ranging from 15000 to 2000 and more.
