IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The charts below give information about a public library in a town called Little Chalfont.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

 

Student answer (Band 7.0)

The table and the pie chart illustrate the proportion of the age of library members, as well as the total loans by book category in 2016, where as the line chart shows the number of loans between 2007 and 2016 in the Little Chalfont library.

Overall, most of the libraby members were adults aged 18 to 64, while the most loans outstanding were for children's and adult fiction. The number of loans increased in the first four years, declined slightly for two years after that, but increased until the end, reaching its peak in the end-year.

In 2016, most of the absoulte majority (51%) of library members were adults between 18 and 64 years old. Children only accounted for 22%. The most loans taken by members of the library were for children's and adult fiction, both having a respective share of 38%. Only 1% of the loans were for Children's DVD.

Starting in 2007, just over 15.000 loans were taken. This number rose in the following 4 years steadily to about 20.500 loans. After 2011, this decreased slightly just under 20.000, but started to increase again until the end of the period, where it reached its peak of approximately 21.000.
