The charts below give information about a public library in a town called Little Chalfont.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Student answer (Band 5.5)
The pie chart illustrates the proportion of Little Chalfont Library's members according to their ages in 2016. On the other hand, the bar chart compares the total number of loans given to individuals between 2007 to 2016.
According to pie chart it is evidant that adults who were aged between 18 to 64 are the most prominent readers and solely shared 51%. The second most interested individuals are children who contributed with 22%. Young adults who were aged between 13 to 17 and adults with age 65 and over were the least interested in library's membership with only 15 and 12 % share respectively.
According to bar chart it observed that 2016 was the year in which most people took loans from library and it is peaking at 22,000 at the end of year. on the other hand, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2014 and 2015 were the years in which the number of lenders were same with relatively small differences and they all stood at almost 21,000. In 2013 the number steadily decrease and there were 19,000 lenders in that year. 2008 and 2009 faces the same number individuals who took loan while, in starting year 2007 there were only 16,000 lenders and the numbers steadily increased throughout the period.
There is also a table which provides information regarding the category of total loaned books and it is evidant that childeren's fiction were the most intreseted book and read by 38% members while, the children's DVDs were the least intreseted category and attracted only 1% members.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
You have successfully identified the main features of all three charts. You provided a clear overview and supported your points with data. However, there are some inaccuracies in your reporting. For example, you stated that 2010, 2011, 2012, 2014, and 2015 had the same number of loans at 21,000, but the bar chart shows distinct variations for these years. Additionally, you referred to 'lenders' when the data refers to 'loans' or 'borrowers', which slightly affects the accuracy of your reporting. To reach a higher band, ensure that your data extraction is precise and that you distinguish clearly between the number of loans and the people borrowing them.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The response is logically organized into paragraphs, each focusing on a specific chart. You use some cohesive devices such as 'on the other hand' and 'according to', though some transitions feel a bit mechanical or repetitive. The paragraphing is appropriate, and there is a clear progression of ideas from the pie chart to the bar chart and finally the table. To improve, try to vary your linking phrases and ensure that the relationship between sentences is more fluid. The use of referencing is generally clear, though some minor errors in sentence structure occasionally disrupt the flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey the main points, such as 'proportion', 'prominent', and 'contributed'. However, there are several spelling errors ('evidant', 'childeren', 'intreseted') and some awkward word choices, such as using 'lenders' to describe people taking out loans. The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but the frequent spelling mistakes and occasional misuse of terms prevent a higher score. Focusing on accurate spelling and using more precise terminology related to data description (e.g., 'fluctuated', 'remained stable', 'accounted for') would significantly enhance your lexical score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt to use complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as '2008 and 2009 faces the same number' (subject-verb agreement) and 'in starting year 2007' (missing article). Additionally, there are punctuation issues, such as missing commas after introductory phrases. While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to keep the score in the 6.0 range. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles, and try to proofread your work to catch minor slips in tense and punctuation.
