Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers the main features of the charts, including the trend in total loans and the breakdown of members and categories. However, the report is somewhat repetitive, as the second paragraph restates information already mentioned in the introduction. While the key features are identified, the analysis lacks a clear, cohesive summary of the data. The description of the line chart is accurate in terms of the figures provided, but the presentation is hindered by the lack of a clear overview of the trends. To improve, ensure that each paragraph provides distinct information rather than repeating the same points.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is divided into paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. The second paragraph largely repeats the information from the first, which disrupts the flow of the report. Cohesive devices are used, but they are often mechanical or misused, such as the repetitive use of 'after that it can increased'. The referencing is sometimes unclear, and the overall structure lacks a sophisticated transition between the overview of the line chart and the specific data points. Better use of linking words and a more logical grouping of information would improve the coherence significantly.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. There is frequent repetition of basic verbs like 'increased' and 'reached'. The student attempts to use specific terms like 'proportion' and 'categories', which is positive, but there are errors in word choice and phrasing, such as 'the line chart under provide' and 'the children fiction'. The range is limited, and the student relies on simple, repetitive structures to describe the data. To reach a higher band, the student should incorporate more varied synonyms for trends and avoid repetitive phrasing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, particularly with verb tenses and auxiliary verbs, such as 'it can again increased' and 'it can reached'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with irregular spacing and missing commas. While the student attempts to use complex sentences, these are often marred by errors that occasionally impede the reader's understanding. The control over basic sentence structures is inconsistent, and there is a lack of variety in the grammatical forms used. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and correct tense usage would greatly improve the accuracy of the writing.
