Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

You have successfully identified the main features of the charts, including the demographic breakdown and the popularity of different genres. You provided a clear overview and supported your points with data from the charts. However, the report lacks a clear comparison between the two charts. For instance, you mention the total number of loans grew, but you do not explicitly link this to the demographic data provided. To achieve a higher band, ensure that you not only report the figures but also synthesize the information to highlight significant trends or relationships between the datasets.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The response is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the information. You use some cohesive devices like 'Overall' and 'whereas' to link ideas. However, the flow is occasionally disrupted by mechanical errors and awkward phrasing, such as 'the young adult accounted for smaller proportion at 15%'. The transition between the demographic data and the genre data is abrupt. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear focus would enhance the logical progression of your report.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey the main points, such as 'demographics', 'dominated', and 'stabilizing'. However, there are several instances of inaccurate word choice and collocation, such as 'the total number of library loan grew' (should be 'loans') and 'children's non fiction are accounts of 6%' (should be 'account for'). These errors indicate a limited control over more precise vocabulary. To improve, focus on using verbs like 'account for', 'comprise', and 'constitute' correctly in the context of reporting statistics.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'children fiction and adult fiction are stood at the same' and 'the adults 65 and over are made up 12%'. There are also issues with subject-verb agreement and article usage. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of these errors prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. Focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement.
