Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response attempts to cover the three visual elements provided, but the analysis is fragmented and lacks a clear, cohesive overview. While the student identifies some key features, such as the age groups in the pie chart and the loan trends in the bar graph, the connection between the data sets is poorly articulated. The description of the table is confusing, as it attempts to list categories without clearly comparing the actual figures. The summary lacks a strong focus on the most significant trends, and the interpretation of the data is somewhat superficial, failing to highlight the most relevant comparisons effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is divided into paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. The introduction is disjointed, and the transition between the three charts is abrupt. Cohesive devices are used in a mechanical and sometimes inaccurate way, such as 'In which all the distinct image seems to have no direct connection,' which disrupts the flow of the argument. Referencing is often unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the relationship between the different data points. The overall structure lacks a clear, logical path that guides the reader through the information provided.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, often relying on basic phrasing. There are several instances of awkward word choices and incorrect collocations, such as 'The image consist data' instead of 'The image consists of data' and 'major of member' instead of 'the majority of members.' The student struggles to use precise terminology to describe the data, often using vague terms like 'amount' or 'distinct image.' While the meaning is generally conveyed, the lack of variety and the frequent errors in word choice prevent the response from reaching a higher band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement, articles, and sentence structure. For example, 'Pie chart is having distinction' and 'Looking at bar graph it is made up comparing loan amount verses years.' These errors are persistent and occasionally impede the reader's understanding. The range of grammatical structures is limited, with a reliance on simple or poorly constructed complex sentences. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of parentheses and commas, which further detracts from the clarity of the writing.
