Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response covers all parts of the task by summarizing the three charts provided. You successfully identified the main features, such as the dominant age group (18-64) and the most popular item category (adult fiction). You also made relevant comparisons, such as noting the smallest group of members and the trend in total loans. The overview is clear and highlights the key trends effectively. To reach a higher band, ensure that all data points are accurate; for instance, you mentioned 'adults aged 18-16', which is a logical error in the age range. Overall, the response is well-focused and meets the requirements of the task.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, overview, and body paragraphs. Each paragraph focuses on a specific chart, which helps the reader follow the information easily. You used some cohesive devices like 'In terms of' and 'while' to link ideas. However, the transition between sentences could be smoother. For example, the phrase 'Sparkling at the pie chart' is an inappropriate and unnatural way to introduce a paragraph. Using more standard academic transitions such as 'Regarding the pie chart' or 'Turning to the data for' would improve the flow and professionalism of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You have an adequate range of vocabulary to describe the data, using terms like 'proportion', 'accounted for', and 'fluctuation'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choices and non-standard collocations. For example, 'peakiest' is not an appropriate academic term, and 'total population member of loans' is confusing and inaccurate. Additionally, 'enlarge' is used incorrectly to describe a trend; 'increased' or 'rose' would be more suitable. While your vocabulary is sufficient to convey the main points, more precise and varied lexical choices would enhance the quality of your report.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you successfully use some complex sentences, there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation. Examples include 'information regards' (should be 'regarding'), 'adult aged 65' (should be 'adults'), and 'A adult non-fiction' (article error). There are also minor errors in capitalization, such as 'little Chalfont'. These errors do not generally impede communication, but they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and article usage will significantly improve your accuracy.
