IELTS Writing Task 1 question
The charts below give information about a public library in a town called Little Chalfont.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Student answer (Band 6.0)
The pie chart and tabular char demonstrates the data regarding a public library with age of members and different category in a town called Little Chalfont during the period between 2007 and 2016.
Overall, it is evident that the majority of the people in library are adults. Maximum number of loans are taken for children's fiction and least for children's DVDs.
To commence with, 51% of proportion of library is filled with adults of age 18-64 during 2016. 22% of library members were children. While young adults and adults of age 65 and above recorded a figure of 15 and 22% respectively.
In 2016, highest number of loans was provided for children's fiction and adult fiction about 38%. Loan for children and adult non-fiction was 6% and 13% respectively. Subsequently, total number of loans was of children's DVD, young adults and adult audio books at around 1%.
Furthermore, total number of loans passed per year were above 15,000 . In 2007, nearly 16,000 loans were given. This was increased by 3,000 in 2008 and 2009. Total number of loans in 2010,2011 and 2012 were almost similar at about 21,000. In 2013, it dropped to 19000, before it reached its peak in 2016 at around 23,000.
