Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response covers the main features of the charts, but the analysis is somewhat superficial. While you identified the highest and lowest categories in the pie chart and mentioned the loan trends, the data interpretation lacks precision. For instance, stating 'the loan was more about 20,000' is vague and does not accurately reflect the data points. Furthermore, the comparison between the different categories in the final chart is slightly disjointed. To improve, ensure that you provide specific data points to support your observations and focus on making clear, logical comparisons between the different years and categories provided in the prompt.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The response is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or repetitive (e.g., 'Moreover', 'Furthermore', 'To conclude that'). Some sentences feel disconnected, and the transition between the description of the pie chart and the bar graph is abrupt. The referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the final paragraph where the summary does not effectively synthesize the information presented. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would enhance the flow of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision required for a higher band. There are several instances of awkward word choices, such as 'loan categorey' (spelling error) and 'material which was circulated'. The phrasing 'the numbers of adults who are in age of 18-64 visited 51%' is also unnatural. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more precise terminology related to data description, such as 'accounted for', 'fluctuated', or 'proportion', and ensure that you are using collocations correctly to describe trends and statistics.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'Adult audio book were used'), incorrect preposition usage, and punctuation errors (e.g., 'children`s'). The sentence structure is often repetitive, and some sentences are grammatically incomplete or confusing, such as 'The loan was less in 2007 which was 16,000'. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur frequently enough to impact the overall clarity of your report. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors would be beneficial.
