Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response covers all three charts provided in the prompt. You successfully identified the main features, such as the dominant age group (adults 18-64) and the peak loan years. However, the report lacks sufficient comparative analysis. For example, when discussing the loan categories, you list the percentages sequentially rather than grouping them to highlight the significant gap between fiction and non-fiction. Additionally, the overview is slightly mechanical; it would be better to synthesize the trends rather than just listing the highest and lowest points. To reach a higher band, ensure you make more direct comparisons between the data points rather than just reporting them individually.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each focusing on a specific chart. The progression of ideas is generally easy to follow. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat repetitive and mechanical, relying heavily on 'then comes', 'moving to', and 'lastly'. The transition between sentences could be smoother to improve the flow. While the paragraphing is appropriate, the internal cohesion within paragraphs could be more sophisticated to better link the data points together, rather than simply listing them one after another.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey the information clearly. You use terms like 'gradually', 'percentage', and 'category' appropriately. However, there are some minor inaccuracies and repetitive phrasing. For instance, 'the highest number of loan is in year 2016' should be 'the highest number of loans was in 2016'. There is also a spelling error ('laons'). To improve, try to incorporate more varied synonyms for 'increase' or 'decrease' and ensure accurate word forms (e.g., pluralization). The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the precision and flexibility required for higher bands.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
There are several grammatical errors throughout the text, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('The charts... illustrates' should be 'illustrate') and article usage ('the highest number of loan' should be 'the highest number of loans'). While you attempt some complex structures, they are occasionally marred by these slips. The sentence structure is generally clear, but the frequency of minor errors prevents a higher score. Focusing on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and pluralization would significantly improve the accuracy of your writing.
