Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers all three charts and identifies key features, such as the dominance of adult library members and the popularity of fiction categories. However, the analysis is somewhat descriptive rather than analytical. For instance, while you mention the figures for age groups and categories, you could improve by making more direct comparisons between the data points rather than listing them sequentially. The overview is present but could be more integrated; it currently reads as a list of observations rather than a synthesis of the main trends. To reach a higher band, ensure that the 'main features' are highlighted more effectively by grouping related data points together.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, each focusing on a specific chart. You use cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Furthermore', and 'Meanwhile' to link ideas. However, some of these transitions are used mechanically or inappropriately, such as starting a paragraph with 'Coming to the bar chart'. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear; for example, the phrase 'the remaining categories are the least with 1%, 2% and 6% each' lacks a clear link to the specific categories mentioned in the table. Improving the flow between sentences would enhance the overall coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'proportion', 'fluctuated', and 'category'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation. For example, 'the loan number is significantly low' is slightly unnatural; 'the number of loans was relatively low' would be better. You also repeat 'significantly' and 'number of loans' frequently. To improve, try to vary your vocabulary by using synonyms and more precise academic collocations to describe trends and data points.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement, such as 'the categories... is similar' (should be 'are similar') and 'the children group is the second highest of 22%' (should be 'at 22%'). Punctuation is generally functional, though there are some awkward sentence fragments and unnecessary commas. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and preposition usage will help improve your accuracy.
