The charts below give information about a public library in a town called Little Chalfont.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Student answer (Band 6.0)
The charts provide information about members and loans at Little Chalfont Library. Overall, adults aged 18–64 made up the largest group of library members, while children’s fiction was the most popular type of loan. The total number of loans generally increased between 2007 and 2016.
Looking first at the library members, adults aged 18–64 accounted for 61%, followed by children at 22%. Young adults and older adults made up 15% and 2% respectively. In terms of loans, children’s fiction was the most popular category, at 38%, while adult fiction accounted for 38% as well. The other categories had smaller percentages.
Turning to the total number of loans, there were about 15,000 loans in 2007. This figure increased gradually over the following years, reaching around 23,000 in 2011. It then remained fairly stable before rising to approximately 25,000 in 2016.
