Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the score. Furthermore, the content is incomplete; while you introduce the charts, you only describe the pie chart and fail to report on the table or the line graph entirely. To achieve a higher band, you must provide a comprehensive overview of all data presented, including key trends and comparisons between the categories and years. The current response is too brief to adequately address the task requirements.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organised into short paragraphs, which is a positive start. However, the progression of ideas is limited because the response is unfinished. Cohesive devices are used in a very mechanical and repetitive way, such as the repeated use of 'the given'. The referencing is sometimes unclear, and the overall structure lacks the logical flow required to connect the different charts into a cohesive summary.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. You rely heavily on basic phrasing like 'the given chart' and 'the given graph'. There are also issues with word choice, such as 'formation' instead of 'information' and 'mature young' which is not standard English. To improve, you should aim to use more precise terminology related to data description, such as 'fluctuated', 'accounted for', or 'proportion'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity, such as 'the the loans number' and '2007 to2016'. Sentence structures are mostly simple, and there is a lack of complex sentence forms. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary spaces before periods and commas. To improve, focus on basic sentence construction and proofreading for minor errors in articles and prepositions.
