The charts below give information about a public library in a town called Little Chalfont.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

 

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The bar chart below illustrates the number of books borrowed from little Chalfont library from 2007 to 2016. While the pie chart shows the age of library members in 2016.

Overall, it is evident that the more than half of the library members aged 18-64 whereas the number of books borrowed from library stayed around 20,000 throughout the period.

In 2016, largest proportion of the members were aged between 18-64 at51%. Followed by children at 22%, however the adults over 65 accounted for just 12%.

Regarding number of books borrowed from library, in 2007 almost 16000 of books were borrowed. The figure then increased to 18000 and remained unchanged until 2009 before rising to 21000 by 2010. It stayed same for 3 consecutive years. It then declined to 19000 in 2013 before increasing to the same level as in 2012 and remained same until the end of the period.

Among categories of loans in 2016, fiction books accounted for the largest proportion at 38% for both adults and children. The figure for adult non fiction stood at 13% and children's non fiction accounted for just 2%. However, the 2% of adult audio books compared with 1% of children's DVDs.
