IELTS Writing Task 1 question
The charts below give information about a public library in a town called Little Chalfont.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Student answer (Band 6.0)
The pie chart illustrates the age group of library members, while the table shows the total percentage of loans by category also the bar graph depicts the total number of loans from 2007 to 2016.
Overall, adults aged of 18-64 accounted for the highest percentage of library membership, while children's fiction and adult fiction were the most popular among other books and the total number of loans have generally increased over the period.
Regarding the age of member, children accounted for 22%, while young adults aged 13-17 was just 15%. Adult 65 and over was about 12%, while adult 18-64 was 51%, which was considerably highest proportion among other age groups.
In terms of loans by category, children fiction and adult fiction were accounted for the same proportion, which was 38%, while adult non fiction was 13% and children non fiction constituted just 6%, which was less common than adult non fiction. In contrast, young adult and adult audio books also shared a same proportion, which was just 2% also children's DVDs was 1%.
In 2007, the number of loans started at around 16,000 loans. Then it rose to around18,500 in 2008 and it was done for approximately 22,000 loans in 2016.
