Student answer (Band 6.0)
The provided charts demonstrate data of a library namely Little Chalfont library where pie chart depicts the age of library members, tabular chart illustrates the total loans by category and bar chart compares the total number of loans from 2007 to 2016.
At first glance, It is crystal clear that adults consisted of more than half of the population in the library in 2016 which was followed by children making up 22% of total library members. The young adults occupied 15% of complete strength while adults of 65 and over age contained the lowest proportion which was 12% in 2016. Moving to the total number of loans between 2007 and 2016, the proportion readily soared from around 16,000 in 2007 to 22,000 in 2011, it slightly declined to 19000 in 2013 whereas in the next years, it progressively surged up reaching to its peak of about 23000 in 2016.
Probing further, children and adult fiction had exactly similar ratio in terms of loan by category which was 38% during 2016. The adult non-fiction similarly, adult audio books and young adults constituted of 2% of loans. whereas children's DVDs had the minimal percentage of loan of 1% in the rendered year.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have successfully identified the main features of all three charts and provided relevant comparisons. You clearly highlighted the age distribution of members, the loan trends over time, and the breakdown by category. However, the report could be improved by ensuring data accuracy; for instance, you mentioned that adult non-fiction, adult audiobooks, and young adults each constituted 2% of loans, but the table shows different figures. Additionally, while you provided a good overview, ensure that your comparisons are more precise to fully meet the requirements of a higher band. Overall, you have covered all parts of the task well.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The response is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a summary. You use cohesive devices such as 'At first glance,' 'Moving to,' and 'Probing further' to guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the paragraphing could be more refined to separate the distinct data sets more effectively. The progression of ideas is generally clear, but the link between the categories in the third paragraph and the overall summary could be smoother. Overall, the information is presented in a coherent manner that is easy to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'proportion,' 'progressively surged,' and 'minimal percentage.' There are some minor inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'namely' used incorrectly in the introduction and 'rendered year' which sounds slightly unnatural in this context. You also have some repetitive phrasing, such as 'total number of loans' and 'total library members.' To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more precise collocations and a wider variety of synonyms to describe trends and data points without relying on the same structures.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this task. There are several grammatical slips, such as 'namely Little Chalfont library' (missing punctuation), 'adults of 65 and over age' (awkward phrasing), and 'made up of the highest numbers' (incorrect preposition usage). While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focus on improving your control over prepositions and article usage to ensure your writing is more polished and accurate.
