Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have successfully identified the main features of the three charts, including the age demographics, loan categories, and the trend over time. You provided a clear overview and supported your points with data from the charts. However, the response lacks sufficient comparative analysis. For instance, in the bar chart section, you simply list the high and low points without comparing the intervening years or noting the fluctuations. To reach a higher band, ensure you explicitly compare the categories rather than just listing them, and provide a more cohesive synthesis of the data provided in the three separate charts.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, each focusing on a specific chart. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'Regarding to', 'Turning to', and 'In the bar graph' to signal transitions. However, some of these are used incorrectly or sound mechanical. For example, 'Regarding to' is grammatically incorrect; 'Regarding' or 'With regard to' would be better. Additionally, the progression of ideas within paragraphs is somewhat repetitive, relying on a list-like structure. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would enhance the flow of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey the information, using terms like 'represented', 'portions', and 'upward trend'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation. For example, you wrote that categories 'excels' (should be 'excelled' or 'were the most popular') and that 2016 was the 'dominated year' (should be 'dominant year'). These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the precision of your report. To improve, focus on using more academic collocations and ensuring subject-verb agreement when describing data trends.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors. For instance, 'Regarding to' is incorrect, and '2012 and 2016 experienced an upward trend' is a dangling modifier as the years themselves did not experience the trend. You also have issues with pluralization and article usage, such as '22,000 number of loans' (should be 'a total of 22,000 loans'). While these errors do not prevent understanding, they occur frequently enough to keep the score in the 6.0 range. Focusing on sentence construction and proofreading for small errors will help.
