IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The charts below give information about a public library in a town called Little Chalfont.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

 

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The pie chart illustrates the age of library members while the table compares the total loans by category and the bar chart shows the total number of loans over a period from 2007 to 2016.

Overall, the pie chart shows that Adults are the most significant while the table highlights that Children's fiction and Adult fiction both excel in total loans in year 2016. In the bar chart, in years 2012 and 2016 experienced an upward trend.

Regarding to the pie chart, Adults 18-64 represented the largest age of library members at 51%. This was followed by, Children was 22% while young adults and adult 65 plus made up the smallest portions at 15% and 12% respectively.

Turning to the table, both Children's fiction and Adult fiction recorded the highest number of loans at 38% in 2016. Children's DVDs represented the lowest number of loans at 1%.

In the bar graph, 2016 was the dominated year at 22,000 number of loans. 2007 was the lowest year at 16,000 number of loans.
