Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers all three charts provided in the prompt. You successfully identified the main features, such as the largest age group (Adults 18-64) and the peak year for loans (2016). However, the analysis is somewhat superficial. While you mention that 2016 was the dominant year, you could have provided more insightful comparisons between the years or categories to better highlight the trends. The overview is present but could be more integrated; currently, it reads as a list of observations rather than a cohesive summary of the data's significance. To improve, ensure you synthesize the information rather than just listing statistics.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, with each chart addressed in its own section. You use some cohesive devices like 'Regarding the pie chart' and 'Turning to the table' to signal transitions. However, the flow between sentences is occasionally mechanical. For instance, the transition between the overview and the body paragraphs could be smoother. Additionally, some referencing is slightly repetitive, such as starting multiple sentences with 'In the...'. Improving the variety of linking phrases and ensuring that the progression of ideas feels more natural would help elevate your score in this criterion.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'illustrated', 'represented', 'portions', and 'dominant'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation. For example, saying 'Adults are the most significant' is vague; 'the largest demographic' would be more precise. Similarly, '22,000 number of loans' is awkward; it should simply be '22,000 loans'. You rely on fairly basic descriptors throughout. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more precise academic vocabulary to describe trends, such as 'fluctuated', 'peaked', or 'accounted for'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this task. There are some grammatical errors, such as 'Adults 18-64 represented the largest age of library members' (should be 'age group') and 'Children was 22%' (should be 'Children accounted for 22%'). Additionally, there are minor punctuation and phrasing issues, such as the comma splice in 'This was followed by, Children was 22%'. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focus on subject-verb agreement and ensuring that your sentence structures are grammatically sound.
