IELTS Writing Task 1 question
The charts below give information about a public library in a town called Little Chalfont.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Student answer (Band 6.5)
The given pie chart illustrates information on a public library known as Little Chalfont while the bar graph depicts total number of loans from 2007 to 2016 and the table shows the data based on the category of loans.
Overall, adults accounted for the greater proportion of the library users while older displayed the least percentage. Additionally, adult fiction shows highest percentage of total loans. By contrast, the numbers of loans are constant throughout the period with slight fluctuations.
According to pie chart, 51% of the adults are library users. Children accounted for nearly one quarter of the member of the library while elders and young adults indicates 12% and 15%. Furthermore, children's and adult fiction acquired total 38% of the loans. Subsequently, children's DVDs, young adults, audio books contains the least proportion of loan. Lastly, children's non-fiction displayed 6%.
In 2007 total 15,000 loans were obtained. however, it is constant in the year 2008 and 2009 which is approximately 20,000 loans with slight increment it reached up to 21,000. Lastly, the number of loans remained constant near about 20,000 with minimal fluctuation from the year 2010 to 2016.
