Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response effectively covers all three visual components provided. You have successfully identified the main features, such as the dominance of the 18-64 age group and the upward trend in loan numbers. Comparisons are made throughout, such as contrasting the high percentage of fiction loans with the low figures for DVDs. However, the analysis could be improved by being more precise with data; for instance, stating 'the number of loans increase the year 2007 forward and fluctuated' is slightly inaccurate as the trend is generally upward with only minor variations. Overall, the report is well-structured and addresses the requirements of the task clearly.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The response is logically organized with a clear introduction, overview, and body paragraphs. You use cohesive devices effectively, such as 'By comparison', 'In contrast', and 'When it comes to'. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different data sets. While the flow is generally smooth, some transitions could be more sophisticated to avoid a slightly mechanical feel. For example, the transition between the table and the bar graph could be more integrated. Nevertheless, the progression of ideas is clear throughout the text, and referencing is consistent.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey information clearly. Phrases like 'proportion of library members', 'allocated 38% of total loans', and 'experienced growth' are used appropriately. There are some minor issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'bulk percentage' (which is non-standard) and 'the number loans' (missing a preposition). Despite these occasional inaccuracies, the vocabulary is adequate for the task and allows for precise reporting of the data. To reach a higher band, focus on more natural collocations and varied reporting verbs.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical slips, such as 'the number of loan' (should be plural 'loans'), 'the year 2007 forward' (awkward phrasing), and 'only 1% loan taken' (missing auxiliary verb 'was'). While these errors are noticeable, they do not impede communication. The sentence structure is generally sound, and punctuation is used correctly. To improve, ensure consistent subject-verb agreement and pay closer attention to articles and prepositions, which are currently the most frequent sources of error.
